5. Readability

This refers to how easy text on your website can be read and understood. Use shorter sentences and paragraphs in your website text. keep it simple and remove any clutter and don't overuse adverbs and adjectives in your copy.

Spelling and grammar mistakes make you look bad and what is worse, Google, Yahoo and Bing may penalise you for making these mistakes. Always read any copy on your website at least twice before you publish it, even better have someone else read over it to proofread it!

For blog posts, those which have images and videos are more engaging for visitors. You should aim to have an image or video included in each section of your post - to be counted by search engines as an image it but be at least 32 x 32 pixels in dimension.

Sites which contain more words in the copy tend to occupy higher positions when ranking the search engines. Most of the top ranking websites have a word count of 900+ words per page. The ideal word count for a blog post for a reader is 1600 words, from an SEO perspective though they are between 2000-2450 words.

One of the biggest key factors in creating a high-quality website is having well written and informative content. Good quality content is that which is focussed on serving a purpose, provides useful information to the reader and is optimised for the web. If the information is valuable then your reader will follow three steps - read, view and share. Not only that but Google's algorithm is known to recognise and reward high-quality content - so the more relevant and high quality your content then the better you will rank. So consider your target audience and the type of content you can provide them with which is going to be of benefit to them and something they will want to share.
